Bio

Hello!  My name is Christy Rains.  This is my third year teaching, and I am excited about teaching first grade again at Mary V. Wheeler.  I was born and raised in Bledsoe County, and I graduated from Bledsoe County High School in 2002.

My first year in education was in 2014, when I was hired at Pikeville Elementary as a teaching assistant. Soon thereafter, I decided to start my journey in becoming a teacher.  In January of 2018, I enrolled with Western Govenor's University, and I graduated in March of 2021.  During college, I continued to work full time as an assistant at Pikeville Elementary. I completed my student teaching under Candace Gifford, who is a fifth grade teacher here at Wheeler.  I graduated Western Governor's University with honors, and I was inducted into the Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education and the National Society of Leadership and Success.

I have been married to my husband, Jonathan, for almost 20 years.  We have two sons, Warn and Westin.  Jonathan and I built our home here in 2003.  We attend Faith Baptist Church.  Our boys keep us busy with their schedules.  Warn fishes on the fishing team, plays football and baseball for BCHS.  Westin plays football and basketball for BCMS.

I am so excited to start this year, and I look forward to watching the children grow in all areas of their lives.  As a parent, I know how important it is to be informed and involved in your child's education.  Parent involvement is critical to a child's education, and I will collaborate with parents often.  I look forward to this year!

Please use my contact information (email) for any questions or concerns.  I can also be reached through Dojo.
