Meet Mr. Michael...

My name is Michael McAnally, and I am very excited and humbled to be the principal of Mary V. Wheeler Elementary. This is my seventeenth year of working in education here in Bledsoe County and my thirteenth year here at Mary V. Wheeler.  I must say that I continue to feel very blessed to be part of a small school with such strong community ties.  I hope that I can continue Wheeler's tradition of having good, faithful, and caring teachers.

My goal has always been to be the best teacher possible by having a strong commitment to give your child the best education possible. For the 2014-2015 school year, I was selected as Wheeler Elementary's Teacher of the Year.  That same year, I was also selected as Bledsoe County's Elementary Teacher of the Year.

My first four years of teaching were spent at Pikeville Elementary where, for the 2009-2010 school year, I was honored to be named Teacher of the Year.  I have a bachelor's degree from Tennessee Technological University in multidisciplinary studies, a master's degree from Lee University in classroom teaching, and an educational specialist degree in instructional leadership from Lincoln Memorial University.  Prior to teaching, I worked as a teaching assistant and substitute teacher in Cumberland County.

My wife, Jill, and I have been married for thirteen years, and we have an eleven-year-old little boy named Brookes. He keeps our evenings and weekends at home both wild and adventurous! We also live in Cumberland County in the Midway community, which is exactly 16 miles from both Crossville and Pikeville. One interesting note is that we live on a farm that has been in my family for over 100 years.  I have attended church at Zion Hill The Baptist Church of Christ since I was 2 days old.  Many of my Sundays were spent right here in Bledsoe County attending church services within the East Union Association of churches.  In my spare time, I love to travel!  I have visited every state capitol except Hawaii's.  I also enjoy hiking at Fall Creek Falls and other outdoor activities.

I look forward to an exciting year of working and learning together.  I will strive to make our school a fun and engaging place to be.  I believe in personal responsibility and hold high expectations for all of our students and staff.  That is why your support is an integral part of the educational process.  Together, we can help your child become a responsible and successful student.  I look forward to working with you as we help your child learn, grow, and become the best he/she can be!
